Position: Private Fleet Regional Manager
Primary Location: Southeastern USA Preferred Location; Remote-Based from Home with up to a 50% travel expectation
Reports To: Sr. Private Fleet Leader
Compensation: $110,000-$130,000 base salary + bonus + full benefits

The Private Fleet Regional Manager (PFRM) is responsible for leading a diverse team of 18 – 25 professional truck drivers located across 5 – 10 Chemtrade manufacturing sites. The PFRM will leverage best practices across their area responsibility and collaborate with other PFRM’s, plant management, EHS and Lead Drivers to driver best-in-class performance. Leveraging data-based metrics to understand and escalate Private Fleet utilization (equipment and Drivers) as well as cost/budget management.
The PFRM will lead drivers remotely with strong partnership and collaboration with Chemtrade manufacturing plant managers. The PFRM will visit all sites regularly to drive engagement with the team and ensure safe, compliant delivery of Chemtrade products to our customers.
About This Role and About You
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Private Fleet Performance Management 30%
Help establish Private Fleet performance goals and communicate throughout region of ownership, both Fleet-level and individual-level driver metrics - holding drivers accountable for delivering results
Own operations for Private Fleet site performance within their region. This includes utilization of the site fleet, equipment requirements, lane alignment, and meeting shipment count goals.
Reviews ELD data to highlight driving safety issues and addresses need for improvement with offending drivers including a pathway from coaching, engaging HR, through progressive discipline as needed
Utilizes ELD data to review driver productivity to ensure adequate volumes being executed by each driver and the payroll hours align to work being completed
Reviews and distributes Driver Safety Bonus Scorecard and ensures drivers understand results along with opportunities to improve metrics and subsequent bonus payout
Collaborates with Fleet leadership to create a recognition/incentive program around meeting or exceeding individual level metrics
Partners with Load Planning to review monthly Fleet volumes at a site level to explain any unfavorable variances to seasonally adjusted monthly volume targets
Reviews and course correct lack of driver productivity and/or equipment underutilization
Works in partnership with manufacturing plant managers as required
Central point of contact for drivers and local load planning
Environmental, Health & Safety 25%
Works collaboratively with Tech Services for NOV/incident investigation to identify root causes and implement actions to prevent recurrence
Helps with NCR investigations to identify root causes and implement actions to prevent recurrence of customer complaints
Regularly reviews ELD data to proactively identify areas needing improvement prior to becoming an NOV/incident, ensures hours of service compliance
Understands DOT (Department of Transportation) safer/basics data to identify actions to improve
Establishes Chemtrade wide (PF site wide) LFI/flash reports and shares
Establishes EH&S audit process/checklist
Conducts EH&S audits at plants
Establishes education program for drivers around DOT safer/basics metrics
Implements high visibility tracking for key performance metrics at plant level
Utilizes MOC as required to ensure proper reviews/approvals
Establishes and implements driver safety training/topics - weekly and monthly
Fleet Maintenance 15%
Provides input into maintenance strategy - both PM (Preventative Maintenance) and reactive maintenance
Establishes approved maintenance shop list and ensures set up as a vendor
Conducts maintenance shop audits
Ensures standardized maintenance approach and record keeping
Ensures all mandatory DOT inspections are completed on time (VIPK, etc.)
Establishes and explains out of service metrics for trucks and trailers
Contributes to the recommended critical spare part list and maintains inventory
Owns asset inspection platform (WhipAround…pre-post trip inspections)
Ensures equipment maintenance records maintained appropriately (currently comply with DOT)
Creates work orders in WhipAround for maintenance events
Gets estimate from the shop for work to be done, gets Purchase Orders created, and approves invoices
Personnel – Recruitment/Hire/Onboard/Ongoing Management 10%
Submit hiring requisitions, conducts candidate screening, choose who to interview
Interview candidates, evaluate candidates (coordinate driver test/inspection process/etc.)
Selects and offers job to successful candidate
For any medical issues that could impact safe operation of the vehicle, ensures driver is re-evaluated/fit for duty
License status, endorsements, annual physical, annual MVR, annual review, annual query, maintain hazmat training and endorsement; ensure TWIC as needed
Submittals of initial IT request for onboarding new employees, complete onboarding checklist activities (Chemtrade generic stuff, set up in LMS, etc.)
Conducts quarterly and annual performance review meetings with drivers
Daily management of personal issues – vacation/time off requests, providing coaching, managing issues (personnel issues, equipment issues, etc.)
Creates a positive work environment continually supporting and recognizing employees for professional and personal growth
Training 10%
Contributes to driver training program including driver training manual
Assigns training requirements to drivers in JJ Keller
Monitors training compliance
Creates and maintains Chemtrade-wide Fleet procedures
Completes driver training manual/driver specific onboarding
Establishes emergency response training for drivers (put into driver training book as relevant)
Administers program to ensure commercial driver license, endorsements, certifications are maintained and record keeping as needed
Refreshes training materials as needed and for DOT/TC changes
Cost Control 10%
Partners with Fleet leadership to review cost centers related to private fleet and the expenses coded into the cost centers - equipment, drivers, maintenance, fuel, etc.
Contributes cost insights for the annual budgeting cycle and looks for opportunities to reduce cost and ensure cost are appropriately aligned
Expense report management (approvals)
ELD hours of service and PTO (Paid Time Off) tracking to ADP payroll activities
PTO approval and tracking
Qualifications:
Valid or previously held CDL considered to be an asset
Must have flexibility to work inside and outside (office setting and field setting)
Training/experience in six sigma, lean manufacturing or other professional supply chain certification is preferred
Advanced proficiency using office equipment and office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP) required
Demonstrated expertise in specialized areas relevant to the role
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and at all levels within the organization
Embrace change and facilitating change management principles
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines

Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost savings or revenue growth initiatives
Must have a valid driver license and ability to travel nationally and internationally (up to 50% travel expectation)
