Position: Senior Business Development Manager, Water

Primary Location:  Remote within the US

Schedule: Full-Time

Reports To:  Vice-President, Water

 

Compensation: $150,000 - $160,000

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

In This Role, You Will:

Chemtrade’s Water Solutions business has seen significant growth over the past three years, and now we’re gearing up to build on that success and accelerate growth further. We are seeking an innovative Business Development Manager to be the driving force behind our next phase of growth. This pivotal role will immerse the right candidate into the various markets that power Chemtrade, where they’ll craft a forward-thinking, medium- to long-term growth strategy that will set the stage for the future. Not only will they spearhead the execution of these strategies, but they’ll also act as the key connector across Operations, Engineering, R&D, and Business Development teams, ensuring every initiative is aligned for maximum impact. Additionally, they’ll be at the forefront of identifying fresh market opportunities, expanding Chemtrade’s product lines, and creating winning strategies that will fuel our continued success in these competitive markets.

 

A Successful Candidate Has:

  • Technical (Engineering or Chemistry) undergraduate degree. MBA highly preferred (Experience may be substituted).
  • 5 - 10 years in a chemical or related industry is preferable.
  • Ability to work independently and work with teams as well as be pro-active in identifying challenges and finding solutions.
  • Exceptional ability to co-create and work collectively with various business leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to organize, conceptually interpret and communicate material developed.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends, identify growth opportunities, and make data-driven decisions. Outstanding quantitative and financial analytical skills including expertise in Excel.
  • Ability to navigate left-right (across topics) and up-down (strategy/details).
  • Able to manage multiple different projects in parallel, effectively prioritize and coordinate across multiple stakeholders.

 

Specific Role Responsibilities

  • The Senior Business Development Manager will help develop and execute the growth strategy. He/She will work with Business Managers, R&D and Market Development teams to identify and pursue specific areas of growth. The person will be tasked with driving the Water organization and Chemtrade Senior Leadership team towards the growth objectives. The role will be responsible for getting buy-in from the leadership team on capital investments as well as developing a road map for exploring and executing on new growth initiatives. Responsibilities will include:

    • Drive commercial growth opportunities partnering with functional teams
    • Develop marketing plans and business strategy working with Business Units including responsible for specific sections such as market trends.
    • Evaluate opportunities for new products in Chemtrade’s existing markets
    • Develop full business case for new business opportunities covering return-on-investment, profit-loss projections and annual budgets (revenue, volume, margin and expenses).
    • Evaluate new markets for Chemtrade’s current products.
    • Spear head new areas of growth from any new M&A activity 
    • Identify business areas adjacent to Chemtrade’s current portfolio suitable for growth.
    • Impact through knowledge, influence and vision the future direction of Chemtrade’s business units.
    • Spearhead, and participate in, idea generation through collaboration, co-creation and leadership.
    • Support development of pipeline of new products and markets with accountability for product launch including margin produced.
    • Manage stage gate process for new products/opportunities in assigned business segments.
    • Participate in key market conferences to better understand markets we participate in and opportunities for both current and new businesses.
    • Present to Senior Leadership Team and Business Unit market insights, analysis with recommendations, areas for organic or external growth and final updates on business development activities.
